My Computer icon?
What the heck is a "my computer" icon?

Near the left edge of the Windows '95 screen, there are usually a few icons that provide easy point-and-click access to often referenced directories, files, services, etc.

These icons can be positioned anywhere on the "desktop" and can be named "just about anything". The My Computer Icon is the usual name of the icon which, when clicked, will send you to the "top level" index for any software or hardware you have available in your computer.

The small icon which resembles a computer is what we mean when we say the "My Computer icon". It might have a different name, and it might not look anything like your computer.

To the left is pictured a typical desk layout. Here we see the "My Computer icon", the "Recyle Bin" (also called a "trash can"), an icon for the Microsoft Internet Explorer, a short-cut to the Netscape Navigator (another Web browser you may have heard of), and a short-cut to a goldinc dialup networking icon -- what we hope to have as a result of configuring a Windows '95 computer for dialup Networking.
